
ESPN has updated its latest FPI rankings after Week 5 college football matchups, and one team's fanbase is going to be really happy.
In Week 5, the Ohio State Buckeyes really took down the Iowa Hawkeyes at home with a 31-14 final score, and that helped push the Buckeyes to the very top of ESPN's tally.
Jeremiah Smith keeps adding to his Ohio State legacy, and his latest performance against Iowa gave him another place in the school history book. The Buckeyes star has notched program records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, so he obviously played a major role in Ohio State's dominant win.
Ohio State gets Maryland next, but the schedule is about to get tougher. The Buckeyes play the Indiana Hoosiers in a highly anticipated matchup on Oct. 17.
In other news, Missouri was a huge story, taking down the Florida Gators in a strong 45-17 win. It really put the Gators in scary territory, and they went down five spots in the tally.
This is the time of year when college football starts getting a whole lot more serious. The early-season excitement is giving way to real pressure, with ranked teams fighting to stay in the playoff picture and everyone keeping a close eye on the same prize. Every Saturday carries more weight now, and one bad loss can sting a little more. With conference races taking shape and the College Football Playoff picture beginning to come into focus, the battle at the top is only getting more intense.
