Game 1 of the NLDS between the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres was full of controversy after a 3-2 Brewers’ win at American Family Field in Wisconsin.
Ty France clobbered a pitch to left field in the top of the ninth. However, instead of being a go-ahead home run, it hit the top of the roof and bounced right into the glove of left fielder Jackson Chourio (video here).
The debate has been ongoing since late Saturday night, with some saying it would’ve been foul or caught and others saying it would’ve been a home run, although we will never know.
Ahead of Game 2, the Brewers made a major change and decided to have the roof open.

So, according to the rules of the stadium, the call was correct as an out, although a bigger conversation is needed about whether or not that is the right way to go about it.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred was also spotted at American Family Field ahead of Game 2, although it remains to be seen why he was there.
