There's no slowing Kenneth Walker III down, as the Kansas City Chiefs running back put up another monster performance on Sunday.
He ran for 177 yards on just 22 carries, averaging 8.0 yards per rushing attempt and scoring two touchdowns in the Chiefs' 30-27 win over the previously unbeaten Las Vegas Raiders. But his latest big game was just another one in an historic trend at the start of his debut season with the Chiefs.
Walker, 25, who signed a three-year, $45 million contract with Kansas City on the heels of being named Super Bowl LX MVP, the first running back to be so honored since Terrell Davis in Super Bowl XXXII, has been racking up yards ever since the 2026 season kicked off four weeks ago.
In fact, his 537 yards broke a record for most ever by a Chiefs player in that span of games and has even become the most for any running back in his first four games of a season in the last 15 years, surpassing DeMarco Murray's 534 from 2014.
And even going beyond recent memory, Walker is on an historic pace. While it's based on a small sample size, the NFL's current rushing leader is on track to finish with 2,282 yards, which would break Eric Dickerson's single-season record of 2,105. Walker would then also become the 10th running back to ever reach or surpass 2,000 yards in a season.

Walker may eventually calm down, but he can get to 2,000 by averaging only 112.5 yards per game throughout the rest of 2026. His career-high stands at 1,050 yards from his rookie year in 2022, a mark he was close to beating last season when he totaled 1,027, granted with two more games played than the 15 he appeared in three years earlier.

And to put his recent dominance in perspective, Walker has 1,038 yards in his last seven games played, dating back to the start of the last playoffs and the Seahawks' Super Bowl run.
He's exceeded 100 yards in every game so far this season except for one - he stopped at 70 yards with his team enough out in front in Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins. Walker's production has come while averaging 6.2 yards per carry and with four touchdowns on the ground and two more as a receiver.
Walker chasing history for the 4-0 undefeated Chiefs is now a big storyline in the NFL. And if he keeps this up, he may add a league MVP award to his trophy case as well.
