Jackson Chourio continued to live up to his reputation as ''Mr. October'' with his heroic performance in Game 2 of the NLDS on Sunday against the San Diego Padres.
The Milwaukee Brewers' young star showcased why the Padres needed to look out for him with a dramatic two-out, two-run walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth. He also did it against one of the best closers in the game in ace Mason Miller, providing the Brewers with a 4-3 victory.
With Game 3 of the NLDS taking place on Tuesday, the Brewers will need more of his finesse as they look to sweep the Padres and advance to the National League Championship Series (NLCS). They will need a strong performance from Dustin May, who will take the mound for Game 3 for the Brewers against right-hander Nick Pivetta for the Padres.
Chourio's successful track record with October baseball has made him a prime candidate to continue to lead the Brewers to success against the Padres. Chourio is performing and playing with a lot of confidence, showing that he has what it takes to lead the Brewers offense as an elite leadoff hitter.
The dream scenario of every kid. Bottom of the ninth. Two outs. Bases loaded. Facing the toughest pitcher in the world to hit.

His stellar plate discipline in Game 2 rewarded him after falling behind in the count 1-2 against Miller. He followed by fouling a 104 mph fastball, laid off his dominant slider and then crushed a 101.3 mph fastball effortlessly into center field, showcasing how he's capable of handing the pressure in high-stake situations. The Brewers couldn't have had anyone better up at the plate than the team's offensive anchor.
As an offensive engine on the basepaths, he's a red-hot table-setter for teammates William Contreras and Christian Yelich. They both have also contributed to the team's success in the postseason, with Yelich batting .333 (2-for-6) with an OPS of .929 and one stolen base and Contreras' go-ahead home run in Game 1.
Chourio ''made magic,'' according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, as he provided the Brewers with a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Padres. Continuing to deliver in high-leverage situations, the 22-year-old has been the definition of clutch for the Brewers so far across two games in the 2026 NLDS.
In Game 1, he hit his fifth career playoff home run in the third inning. He hit the two-run game-tying homer off of southpaw Robbie Ray.
All things considered, the young hitter's success has been historic. He joined elite company by becoming one of the youngest hitters with a walk-off postseason hit in postseason history, alongside Edgar Renteria (1997). In addition, he also set the all-time Brewers franchise record for most career postseason home runs, surpassing Prince Fielder and Orlando Arcia.
Across his young playoff career, Chourio has come up clutch in the postseason. Across 14 career playoff games played, in addition to his five career home runs, he boasts a .327 batting average, 15 RBI and a stellar 1.044 OPS.
