As if a stellar performance in Game 3 of the National League wild-card series wasn't enough, Atlanta Braves left-hander Ray Kerr once again shined on a massive stage Sunday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With the Braves not wanting to use ace Chris Sale for the third time in five games, manager Walt Weiss turned to Kerr as his opener for the second time this postseason, and he delivered once again.
Kerr tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out four batters. It was exactly the outing Atlanta needed to steal a Game 2 win over the Dodgers and head back home with the series tied 1-1.
For Kerr, the first two appearances of his postseason career have been flawless. He's tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits, two walks and striking out six batters.

The Braves being able to take one of the two games in Los Angeles was massive for their chances to win the series, especially considering they have yet to use their two best pitchers.
Now, in Games 3 and 4, Atlanta is set up to send the aforementioned Sale and right-hander Tyler Mahle to the mound in the next two games of the series.
Sale was one of the top pitchers in baseball this season (2.16 ERA, 200 K), and Mahle posted the best stats of any pitcher who was traded ahead of the trade deadline (4-1, 1.99 ERA).
The outstanding effort by Kerr, as well as Didier Fuentes (3 2/3 IP, 1 H, 3 K), positioned the Braves well to potentially knock off the back-to-back World Series champions.
