Nebraska OC Dana Holgorsen on Indiana: 'There are no weaknesses'

Nebraska Cornhuskers offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen has been calling offense at a high level for a long time.

Holgorsen is credited as one of the fathers of the Air Raid offense, alongside notable names such as Hal Mumme and Mike Leach.

He was brought to Lincoln by head coach Matt Rhule in 2024 to help the Huskers put up a ton of points, and that has certainly been the case in 2026.

The Huskers are fourth in the Big Ten and ninth nationally in points per game at 43.6.

That said, Holgorsen and the Huskers know they have a huge test in Week 6. Up next is the defending national champions, the Indiana Hoosiers, and a defense that's giving up just 237.8 yards per game. That's fourth in all of college football.

It sure seems like Curt Cignetti's defense is giving Holgorsen fits as he game-plans for this massive Big Ten matchup in Memorial Stadium.

“Their defense has as much respect as their offense does,” Holgorsen recently said of the Hoosiers, per Trevor Tarr of OnSI. “You don’t win 21 games in a row if you don’t. They pose a lot of problems. Everything starts up front with them. They’re big, experienced, thick, active, deep… It’s going to be challenging to scheme them up and run the ball.”

As far as running the ball is concerned, the Hoosiers are giving up just 64.4 yards per game on the ground. True to his Air Raid roots, Holgorsen may try to counter that with the passing attack.

Keep an eye on Nebraska WR Kwazi Gilmer against Indiana

Specifically, the Huskers have a wideout in Kwazi Gilmer who can absolutely stretch the Hoosiers. Gilmer is coming off a game against the Maryland Terrapins that saw him catch 11 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

“I’m not saying Kwazi’s Jeremiah Smith, but he’s pretty damn good,” Holgorsen said of his offensive weapon.

This season, Gilmer has 29 catches for 387 yards and six touchdowns. Expect him to be a big part of Nebraska's game plan in this one, but Holgorsen admitted that answers aren't coming easy at this point.

“There are no weaknesses,” he said of Indiana's defense. “My job is to try to find some, but I haven’t found any yet… I do know this, though: Man, the opportunity is there. We’re excited about what the opportunity is. It’s a big-time game, which is why everybody's here… Excited about the opportunity, excited about the challenge.”
