Alabama Crimson Tide tight end Josh Ford is trying to pull off a feat that could be considered near superhuman.
It's certainly a sign of toughness and grit, so whether he has the power to leap tall buildings in a single bound or compete with X-ray vision is not even really the point.
The point is, Ford is doing everything he can to help his Crimson Tide win in 2026. The junior tight end from Stillwater, Oklahoma, broke his arm during Alabama's Week 5 win over Mississippi State.
He had surgery this past Sunday, but that's not slowing him down. Head coach Kalen DeBoer revealed on Wednesday that Ford is going to try to play in No. 6 Alabama's massive matchup against No. 2 Georgia.
"He's determined to get on the football field," DeBoer said, per Alex Scarborough of ESPN. "Actually progressing along fairly well right now. We'll kind of see how the week continues for him. I know where his mindset is at. We just got to make sure he meets the levels we need him to meet as far as being physically ready."
Take a minute to consider how incredible it would be if Ford did play against Georgia.
We're not talking about a guy coming back from a sprained wrist to get into practice and try to get back into game shape. We're not talking about him taking his time to make a comeback against an unranked team later on in the season.
This is a tight end who had surgery on a broken hand on Sunday and is going to attempt to play against the No. 2 team in the country less than a week later.
Superhuman only begins to describe it, and you can bet that Ford's Alabama teammates will be all the more pumped for this matchup if he's suited up and running out of the tunnel with them in Week 6.
"He's doing a great job. It's going well. We're optimistic," said DeBoer.
It's incredible. If Ford can pull it off, even if he's limited in the game, it would be legendary.
