Jon Rahm makes major decision on LIV Golf future

Jon Rahm looks to be turning the page and ending his chapter with LIV Golf.

Rahm’s representative said he will not participate in LIV Golf 2.0, as the league’s bankruptcy hearing is ongoing.

“Mr. Rahm has independently reviewed the proposed terms of LIV 2.0…and has determined that those terms are unacceptable to him, and he will not be participating going forward in LIV 2.0,” Rahm’s representation wrote, via Gabby Herzig of The Athletic.

This comes after the Saudi Public Investment Fund pulled its funding after four years of supporting the league.

In August, CEO Scott O’Neil said that LIV Golf got a new investor.

However, one month later, LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy, putting a big question mark on the future of the league.

The Chapter 11 bankruptcy motion also included plans for LIV Golf 2.0, although it remains unclear when that will end up taking place.

Rahm joined LIV Golf in December 2023, but he seems set on not returning to the league no matter what. Rahm has three individual titles with LIV Golf, and he also led his Legion XIII to consecutive Team Championships, so it’s a big blow for the league.

This isn’t the first significant loss for LIV, either. Brooks Koepka announced in December that he wouldn’t be returning, although that was before everything happened with the bankruptcy.
