In addition to trying to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to their third-straight World Series title, Dave Roberts is pursuing personal achievement as well.
The Dodges' Tuesday 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves put Los Angeles one win away from a return to the National League Championship Series and moved Roberts further up a significant all-time list.
With the win, Roberts moved into a tie with managerial legend Tony La Russa for the second most postseasons wins by a skipper in MLB history. Both men now have 71 career playoff wins.
And Roberts, who will likely keep adding more to his resume, achieved his 71st postseason victory in fewer games, getting there in 120 games compared to La Russa's 132. Joe Torre owns the all-time record with 84.
Overall in his 11th playoff run with the Dodgers, Roberts now has a 71-49 record. He also managed one postseason game during his time as manager of the San Diego Padres.

Roberts, who has led the Dodgers to appear in the World Series five times, winning three, currently owns 1,044 regular-season wins. Under Roberts, the Dodgers have won 100 or more games on six separate occasions.
A solid player before becoming a manager, Roberts hit .266 with a .342 OBP while recording 721 hits, 23 home runs, 213 RBI and 437 runs scored with Cleveland, the Dodgers, Boston Red Sox (highlighted by being part of the 2004 World Series winning playoff run), Padres and San Francisco Giants.
Everything Roberts accomplishes from this point forward is only enhancing a legacy that's already a lock for Cooperstown.
