Rafer Alston's son, Reese Alston, commits to LSU basketball

Reese Alston is the son of a famous basketball player, though his father is much more well-known by his nickname. Reese's dad is Rafer Alston, better known as "Skip to My Lou."

Alston played a ton of NBA basketball in his time, but he was a legend in the streetball game. If you ever watched the AND1 Mixtape tour, then you'd know exactly who "Skip to My Lou" is.

Reese Alston is known as "Lil Skip," and he's a big-time class of 2027 recruit. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's a five-star and ranked as the No. 3 point guard in the country.

Alston committed to Will Wade and the LSU Tigers on Thursday.

From Houston, Texas, the younger Alston brings much of the same swagger and confidence that made his dad a streetball legend. He has good size at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and he's an elite athlete.

LSU Tigers pick up another big basketball commitment

He's confident and borderline sneaky in his ability to drive to the line and get to the rim. Alston also has a nice, confident shot from beyond the three-point line, though.

"When it comes to his individual offense, Alston is a threat at all three levels, but may be most comfortable with his pull-up, whether that be from deep or the mid-range area," writes 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein. "His shot comes up from his chest, off both the catch and the dribble, and has a low and quick, but still clean, release. He also has a complimenting float game, and even the ability to shoot runners with either hand. He’s always a threat to get a piece of the paint, and has similar dexterity around the rim as a lay-up maker, as well as the reactivity to smoothly navigate traffic."

Alston recently took official visits with the Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats, so this is a big-time recruiting win for Wade and the Tigers. Speaking of which, Wade's 2027 class looks elite. Alston joins four-star guard King Gibson and four-star power forward Ahmad Hudson.
