Giants reveal big Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo news for Commanders game

The statuses of New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and lead running back Cam Skattebo for this Sunday's game between the 3-1 Giants and the 1-3 Washington Commanders at Washington's Northwest Stadium were somewhat up in the air as of Friday morning.

Later on Friday, head coach John Harbaugh and Skattebo shared good news for Giants fans.

Will Malik Nabers play vs. Commanders?

"He'll be ready to play Sunday," Harbaugh said about Nabers, per Ben Pawlak of SNY.

While Nabers dealt with a "sore" knee during midweek practices, there was never any real indication that he wouldn't be available for the Week 5 divisional clash. He made it known after the Giants' 36-24 home win over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 4 that he wants to be targeted more during the second halves of games, and New York offensive coordinator Matt Nagy revealed on Thursday that he and Nabers "had a great conversation on Tuesday."

Against the Cardinals, Nabers tallied six receptions on seven targets for a season-best 112 yards and a touchdown.

Yet another positive Giants update for Commanders game

As shared by Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Skattebo was spotted wearing a red no-contact jersey on Wednesday. On Friday, Skattebo said he had a "little muscle tightness," but he also added that he will be good to go for a potential "slogfest."

Sunday's game between the Giants and Commanders is expected to take place in rainy and windy conditions.

"I already told (Nagy), just give me the ball and we'll be fine," Skattebo said about how he wants to contribute this weekend.

The Giants will enter Sunday as the only NFC East team with three wins on the season. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys fell to 2-3 when they suffered a shocking 24-16 upset loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.

Giants fans are understandably thinking big following the Cowboys' latest result, but Skattebo insisted Big Blue's focus is only on the task at hand.

"As a team, we're not really thinking about first place," Skattebo said. "We're thinking about going 1-0 every week."

As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Giants as 4.5-point road underdogs against the Commanders.
