The New York Jets have only won a single game so far this season, and they're 1-3 heading into their Week 5 matchup against the 3-1 Cleveland Browns. Last season, the Jets didn't get their first win until Week 8, so at least they're doing better than that.
But there's still a lot of pressure on second-year head coach Aaron Glenn to deliver. Now, he hasn't even wrapped up his second season with the team, but because of how the team is performing right now, one NFL analyst thinks his days could be numbered even earlier than expected.
On Friday, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report released a feature with dramatic NFL predictions, and one of them was that Glenn would get the boot before this season is even through. It's wild to think about, but Knox already has a temporary replacement in mind. It's also pretty much the worst prediction for Glenn ahead of the Jets' game against the Browns on Sunday.
"New York has three 2027 first-round picks and is widely expected to chase its quarterback of the future in April's draft," Knox says of why this move, he thinks, would make sense. "Pairing said quarterback with a new head coach might be the move for the Jets."
As for the fill-in, Knox sees offensive coordinator Frank Reich as the most possible interim candidate.
"He has had two head-coaching stints in the NFL," Knox states, "and he could continue developing young offensive players like offensive tackle Olu Fashanu, receiver Adonai Mitchell, and rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq."
Now, this is just one take, so don't bet the house on it. Ideally for the Jets, Glenn will help this team pull off wins this season instead of moving toward a collapse.
