The Milwaukee Brewers rode an historic performance from their bullpen to a 7-4 win and a 2-0 NLCS lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
At the rate Brewers relievers are playing this postseason, they may soon have Milwaukee playing for a World Series.
With starter Logan Henderson pulled in the top of the fifth inning after his second throwing error tied the game at three, manager Dan Murphy was forced to turn to his bullpen needing 15 outs. And the unit delivered, pitching an historic five perfect innings to lower its ERA to a minuscule 0.31 through six postseason games and hand Milwaukee its first 2-0 lead in a best-of-seven series in franchise history. According to MLB.com's Sarah Langs, the five innings Brewers relievers threw without allowing a base runner were "the most [perfect] innings by a team's bullpen ... in a game in postseason history."
The Milwaukee Brewers win, 7-4, with their bullpen yielding an insane 0.31 ERA this postseason, retiring all 15 batters they faced today.

They are now going to Los Angeles with a 2-0 lead.
It's the first time they've had a 2-0 lead in a best-of-7 series in franchise history.

That’s the most innings by a team’s bullpen, all perfect, in a game in postseason history https://t.co/KKLIXfDt2l
Dustin May, who started 10 games for the Brewers during the regular season after being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals, came out of the bullpen first and minimized the damage after the first two Dodgers batters in the top of the fifth inning reached base.
JoJo Romero, also acquired in that May trade with the Cardinals, picked up the win and completely fooled four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani to pick up a strikeout leading off the sixth inning, while Abner Uribe remained red-hot, recording two strikeouts in 1.1 innings. He's appeared in all six playoff games for the Brewers and has yet to allow an earned run while striking out five batters.

Aaron Ashby, who had just four saves during the regular season, pitched the final five outs and only needed 21 pitches to send Milwaukee to Los Angeles halfway to a sweep.
During the regular season, Milwaukee's relief depth was a major plus as it finished first in the NL in bullpen ERA (3.40) in 640.2 innings, and that's continued to be the case through the first six games of the postseason.
While the staff's production is hardly surprising, it's been no less vital to the Brewers taking a commanding series lead. And their cavalry of arms is showing no signs of slowing down.
