Steelers get more bad news at WR position with Roman Wilson update

While the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts that improved the Steelers to 3-2 on Sunday, that victory came at a cost for Pittsburgh's passing attack.

Third-year Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson suffered a worrisome finger injury in the second quarter of the Colts game. It now sounds like Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be without yet another weapon for multiple contests.

How long will Roman Wilson be sidelined with injury?

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Wilson "will miss multiple weeks" due to his injury. Fowler added that Wilson "is still getting more information on the injury and will seek a second opinion."

It's a tough blow for a Steelers side that placed wide receiver and offseason acquisition Michael Pittman Jr. on injured reserve Saturday due to a foot injury. In fewer than five full games this season, Wilson recorded 14 receptions on 25 targets for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

What opponents won't see Roman Wilson on the field?

Against the Colts, Steelers running back Jaylen Warren tallied 188 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. He and 2026 second-round draft pick Germie Bernard both had six receptions, while Rodgers completed 22-of-31 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

"The Steelers currently are left with DK Metcalf, rookies Germie Bernard and Kaden Wetjen, and Brandon Smith -- who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday -- as their only healthy receivers," Fowler added.

The Steelers next play at the 1-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 18. Pittsburgh will then take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 7 and the rival Cleveland Browns in Week 8 before the Steelers enter their Week 9 bye. As of Monday morning, it seemed as if Wilson may not be available for Pittsburgh until after the bye.

As for the Steelers' options at the position, multiple wide receivers had been mentioned in recent rumors regarding the trade deadline, which arrives on Nov. 10. Marvin Harrison Jr. is no longer among those potential options for Pittsburgh, however, as the Arizona Cardinals agreed to send him to the Houston Texans over the weekend.
