Shortly after the Dallas Cowboys suffered an upset 24-16 "Thursday Night Football" home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that dropped the Cowboys to 2-3, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott made it known that he didn't love that a third-party contractor referred to the result as "embarrassing" as Prescott walked past that individual inside the stadium.
During a Tuesday appearance on Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was asked about that incident.
"It doesn't impact me at all," Jones said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. "The driver in question was not an employee. Fans can express themselves, and should express themselves. Whether he was our employee or not, he was a fan, it sounds like. So, I'm for our fans expressing themselves."
The Buccaneers entered that prime-time game at 0-4 and started undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels. Nevertheless, the Cowboys surrendered 241 rushing yards and 419 total yards in the Week 5 defeat.
Coming off the Tampa Bay loss, it was learned on Monday that the Cowboys were bringing in longtime NFL coach Mike Pettine to serve as a senior defensive assistant to work with first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker. For a Casino Guru News article published on Monday, one longtime league executive told well-known NFL reporter Jason La Canfora that Parker looked "over his head" across the season's first five weeks.
As shared by Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Jones said he does not agree with those who have claimed that Parker is overwhelmed. However, Jones also confirmed that Parker will move from the sideline to the booth for when the Cowboys play their "Sunday Night Football" game at the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18.
ESPN stats show that the Cowboys began Tuesday ranked 31st in the league with an average of 395.4 yards allowed per game, 25th with an average of 27.2 points surrendered per contest and 30th with five total sacks recorded on the season.
Previously, Jones took some victory laps regarding the players he was able to add to the Dallas roster after he traded star pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the Packers in August 2025. On Tuesday, Jones once again addressed the Parsons transaction.
"We did not underestimate (Parsons') ability," Jones insisted, per Machota. "It was reinforced when Green Bay gave us all the picks that we got. We're on plan with how we're using those picks. We want to have that show up in success with wins on the field. But nothing about that has surprised me at all. And we wish Micah the best."
Parsons won't play for the Packers against the Cowboys as he continues his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered last December. Shortly after Jones' radio hit wrapped up, DraftKings Sportsbook had Dallas as a 1.5-point road underdog for this Sunday's matchup against Green Bay.
