Why Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr., Browns' Jerry Jeudy may not get moved before trade deadline

Before the Houston Texans officially acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and Jerry Jeudy of the Cleveland Browns became the subjects of numerous trade rumors.

Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN shared why it isn't a lock that either Thomas or Jeudy will be moved before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.

Is Jerry Jeudy more likely to get traded than Brian Thomas Jr.?

"The Jaguars have not indicated a desire to trade him," Graziano said about Thomas. "He seems to have fallen behind both Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers in the Jaguars' wide receiver pecking order, which is one reason teams are interested in finding out if he's available. It's a logical thought: Thomas is a former first-round pick and a top talent who might fit better in a different offense, similar to Houston's thinking on Harrison. If Thomas isn't available, the next most recognizable name might be Cleveland's Jerry Jeudy, whose role has been reduced in a wideout rotation dominated by rookies Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion."

ESPN stats show that Thomas ended Week 5 ranked fourth on the Jaguars with nine receptions, fourth with 17 targets and fifth with 105 receiving yards for the season. Thus far, he has tallied only one touchdown catch.

As for Jeudy, a recent report indicated that the Browns could be looking to get a third-round or fourth-round selection for his services after he recorded just eight receptions for 81 yards and no scores over the season's first five weeks. That said, Cleveland is 3-2 and, thus, doesn't necessarily need to sell any veteran talent at this point of the campaign.

As for teams in need of help at the position, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Indianapolis Colts, the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders have been mentioned as potential landing spots for proven pass-catchers.

Jaguars given strong warning about possibly trading Brian Thomas Jr.

"I would caution Jacksonville that (A) trading talented players while sitting at 4-1 is risky and (B) Thomas' presence changes how teams defend the Jaguars," Fowler explained. "His immense skill set requires defensive backs to play him deep, which opens the field for Washington and Meyers. But if Jacksonville gets a good offer, it would be foolish not to consider it. Jeudy is in a similar boat. The Browns are improved and need veteran help, so my sense is [that] while they are not actively shopping Jeudy, a strong offer could change that."

In short, it sounds like neither Thomas nor Jeudy will be traded for pennies on the dollar. The Jaguars next face the 1-4 Houston Texans in London this coming Sunday, while the Browns will host the 4-1 Baltimore Ravens that afternoon.
