New Michigan Wolverines head basketball coach Mike Boynton Jr. has some big shoes to fill in Ann Arbor.
He's replacing Dusty May, who won a championship at Michigan and then left for the NBA to become head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Boynton was part of that championship run, too. He was May's top assistant coach and was promoted from within when Michigan went to look for a new head man.
Still, it's a new era in Ann Arbor, and Boynton will undoubtedly be under pressure to keep things rolling for Michigan hoops. As such, he's probably breathing a sigh of relief from a recruiting perspective, at least, because on Wednesday, he landed his first high school commitment.
That came from four-star point guard Lucai Anderson from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Anderson is a big-time commitment for Michigan, per the rankings. According to 247Sports, he's the No. 7 shooting guard in the class of 2027 and a top 100 recruit overall.
Checking in at 6-foot-5, 190 pounds, Anderson is a lanky athlete who can do a bit of everything. He can get to the rim as a lefty and is an excellent passer.
Per the 247Sports scouting report, he's a "streaky, high-volume shooter." He made just 21 percent of his three-point attempts and only 67 percent of his free throws in eight 3SSB games. With that said, he did play for the Germany U18 national team at the European Championships, and his three-point shooting jumped up to 34 percent.
Anderson is a playmaker, but he's raw. He has all the tools in the world, but Michigan will have to help him develop. Also in the running for his commitment were the USC Trojans, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and UCF Knights.
