It's early to be thinking about the 2027 NFL Draft, but really, is it ever too early to think ahead when it comes to football? The current class of college quarterbacks is giving scouts a lot to watch and like, so there's renewed interest in where these quarterbacks may land in 2027.
In ESPN's 2027 NFL mock draft released on Wednesday, NFL draft analyst and fantasy football expert Field Yates names rising Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss the No. 9 best player in the draft. He links him to a struggling NFL team, too.
In the piece, Yates sees Chambliss going to the Arizona Cardinals. He mentions that even though the team "made enough of an investment in Carson Beck this April" as the 65th overall pick "to suggest he could be the long-term starter...I'm not sold on that being the case."
He thinks the team won't be able to resist Chambliss, who has "playmaking, clutch production, experience and craftiness."
"No quarterback in this class has played better in big games than Chambliss, who averaged 307 passing yards and accounted for six touchdowns in three College Football Playoff games last season. He has led Ole Miss to three wins over AP Top 25 teams in 2026."
There's still a lot of football left, but it's impossible to ignore that Chambliss is trending up in all the right ways. His next game will be a big one, going up against the Texas Longhorns and Arch Manning on Saturday.
