Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is trying to figure this thing out. The Tide scored over 40 points per game through five games, and they looked poised to make a College Football Playoff run.
The last two weeks have seen Alabama fall back to earth, though. Not only have the Tide lost two in a row, but their offense has fallen off a cliff — from 49.6points a game to 13.5 points per game in losses to No. 2 Georgia and No. 14 Tennessee.
Grubb has said that his offense has been embarrassing. That's a phrase his assistant coaches have used as well.
Unfortunately for all involved, getting the offense back on track is going to be harder than it should be against the Texas A&M Aggies in Week 8. For the second straight game, the Tide will be without star wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams.

This is not a huge surprise. Ahead of Alabama's game against Tennessee in Knoxville, a report had come out saying that Coleman-Williams had undergone arthroscopic surgery.
At the time, it was expected that he'd miss a few weeks. Players nowadays have an uncanny ability to quickly return from these types of "minor" surgeries, though. Heck, Alabama tight end Josh Ford played less than a week after breaking his arm.
Coleman-Williams won't be available for Texas A&M, though, and that's tough news for Grubb and the Alabama offense.
Coleman-Williams has 23 catches for 415 yards and four touchdowns on 18 yards per catch this season.
He's Alabama's top receiver, and this injury has come at a time when quarterback Keelon Russell could use the most help.
After looking like a Heisman Trophy candidate through the first few weeks of this season, Russell has thrown just one touchdown compared to four turnovers in the past two games. He's also been sacked nine times in Alabama's two losses.
Not having your star wideout will lead to those kinds of struggles, even at Alabama.
