The Golden State Warriors may have an exit ramp with Kristaps Porzingis.

League personnel figures believe that the Warriors could potentially package the former All-Star big man Porzingis with another player in a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported on Friday. Siegel adds that the Warriors would be trying to add Myles Turner from the Bucks in that trade scenario.

The seven-footer Porzingis, 31, is facing the possible end of his NBA playing career after recently experiencing a recurrence of the “POTS” (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) condition that he has been dealing with for the last couple of years. Golden State recently issued a statement on Porzingis’ health situation, and they are now reportedly looking to trade his contract behind the scenes.

Porzingis is effectively an expiring contract for the Warriors with a $20 million salary for this season and a small guarantee of just $3 million for next season. As such, a rebuilding team like the Bucks would be an ideal candidate to take on Porzingis’ deal, especially since they are no longer a free agent destination after trading away longtime star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Meanwhile Turner, a two-time NBA blocks leader at 30 years old, would be a nifty fit in Golden State. The aging Warriors need more size and athleticism in their frontcourt, and Turner’s 3-and-D skillset would certainly help replicate much of what Golden State is losing with Porzingis currently on the shelf.

Turner is still making roughly $27 million in each of the next two seasons (with a $29.1 million player option for 2028-29 as well). While that could complicate the logistics of such a deal, the Warriors are in a fairly dire situation right now and might need to take exactly that kind of low-risk swing.
