Lamar Jackson seems to be getting closer to a return to the Baltimore Ravens' starting lineup, but it will have to wait for at least one more week.
The Ravens officially downgraded Jackson to "out" for Sunday's huge AFC North game against the Cincinnati Bengals, making it the third consecutive game the two-time NFL MVP has missed.
Jackson has been sidelined with an ankle injury that has been disclosed as a high-ankle sprain. Jackson said on Friday that he felt like he was making progress and was gaining some optimism that he could be available for Sunday's game.
The training staff and coaching staff obviously disagreed by the time Saturday rolled around.
QB Lamar Jackson (ankle) has been downgraded to “out” for tomorrow’s game vs. Cincinnati.

Backup Tyler Huntley has started the past two games for the Ravens, with the team splitting those two games.
Huntley has played well in the two games, but there is a clear gap between him and Jackson when it comes to making the Ravens offense run at peak effectiveness.
As great as Jackson is when he is healthy, the one potential flaw that exists with him is that he has a tendency to miss a handful of games each season. That is one of the drawbacks to having a quarterback who runs as often as Jackson does and opens himself up to as much contact as Jackson does. You don't want to limit that because it's a big part of what makes him such a dynamic player (not to mention a game-changing player). But there is an element of risk to it.
Sunday's game against the Bengals is a pivotal mid-season game in the AFC North.
The Ravens enter with a 4-2 record, tied for the top spot with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers (the Browns have the tiebreaker with a win over both teams). The Bengals are one game back at 3-3. A Bengals win could put the Ravens at the bottom of the division by the end of Week 7, depending on what happens in the other games across the division.
The Steelers are playing the New Orleans Saints. The Browns are playing the Tennessee Titans.
