Milwaukee Brewers reliever Aaron Ashby has been a hidden gem in the bullpen, and his dominance has come alive in the postseason.
Across seven games, he has tossed 14 scoreless innings along with 14 punchouts and has only given up four hits and three walks. He's also boasting a miniscule 0.50 WHIP paired with a sparking 29.8% strikeout rate.
His scoreless streak has been historic, placing him in rare company with former star relievers Goose Goosage and Mariano Rivera. Rivera currently holds the all-time postseason record with a 33 1/3-inning scoreless streak, while Goosage held the single-season record with 14 1/3 innings (1981).
In the Brewers' 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, Ashby delivered another solid performance, getting Victor Mesa Jr. to swing and miss on a 99 mph sinker in the top of the eighth inning.
Aaron Ashby is putting together arguably the greatest postseason performance by any reliever: 7 games 14 innings 14 strikeouts 0 runs 4 hits 3 walks From Travis Feldhaus of ESPN research: The record for scoreless relief in any postseason was set by Goose Gossage in 1981, when he had 14 1/3 innings, zero runs allowed.

Ashby has been the definition of a workhorse, providing the Brewers with stellar multi-innings of work, serving as a versatile weapon out of the pen. He pitched three innings of relief twice, once in Game 4 of the NLDS and the other in Game 4 of the NLCS.
In addition, he's also recorded three games with racking up three strikeouts, demonstrating his efficiency. In his three-strikeout performance on Oct. 15, he also recorded a save and successfully helped the Brewers close out the NLCS series to advance to the World Series.
His composure and poise on the mound has also contributed to him being the ace of the pen. As well, his pivotal dominance has made him a trustworthy arm that the Brewers have been able to heavily rely upon in late high-leverage innings.
