Malachi Toney has arguably his best game ever, obliterates another Miami record

Malachi Toney continued rewriting the Miami Hurricanes' record book in a 52-23 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Toney set the Miami single-game record with 16 receptions for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Toney previously co-held Miami's record with 13 receptions against Pittsburgh in 2025. Mike Harley had 13 receptions against Duke in 2021.

Toney accomplished his numbers in just over three quarters. Miami head coach Mario Cristobal took out his first-team in the fourth quarter with Miami leading 52-14, limiting Toney from bigger numbers. Toney had 12 receptions for 159 yards and two TDs in the first half.

Toney nearly set the Miami single-game reception record in the first half. Toney's first half would have been third in Miami history for receptions in a game and the second-most in his career. The three TD receptions by Toney tied his career high and the Miami single-game record he holds with five other players.

Toney now has 66 receptions for 952 yards and 11 TDs this season. Toney set the Miami single-season record with 109 receptions and 1,211 yards in 2025. It took Toney 16 games to set those records last season. Toney is on pace to set the Miami single-season records during the regular season.
