Luka Doncic gets honest after two games with Walker Kessler

Luka Doncic is clearly having fun playing alongside the Los Angeles Lakers’ new big man, Walker Kessler.

Through two games in the 2026-27 NBA season, Kessler has done nothing but show that he can deliver the goods for the Lakers, and Doncic appreciates that.

“Unbelievable, honestly. We know what we’re getting, I’m not surprised by how he’s playing,” Doncic said about Kessler following the Lakers’ 125-117 win on Friday over the Los Angeles Clippers at Crypto.com Arena.

“He knows how to play this game, he played for a long time. I’m not surprised but the fact that he’s doing it, just proving a lot of people wrong is just unbelievable.”

Against the Clippers, Kessler scored 22 points on 10/14 shooting from the floor and added eight rebounds. He was also quite a defensive presence at the rim in the contest, swatting away six shots with three steals in 35 minutes. That performance followed his huge Lakers debut on Wednesday, when he made all 12 shots from the field for 26 points while recording nine rebounds and two blocks in a 127-105 home win over the Golden State Warriors.

Doncic will always be the man for the Lakers, but having someone like Kessler around elevates not just his playmaking ability but the Lakers’ overall ceiling as well.
