Jalen Williams suffered a gruesome injury Sunday in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The All-Star forward drove hard to the basket and took a hard fall with just over a minute left at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. Williams got sandwiched in the air between two Clippers defenders, leading to his left leg hitting the hardwood violently.

Williams’ left ankle twisted the wrong way, in what looked similar to Gordon Hayward’s infamous 2017 injury. Thunder trainers immediately threw a towel over the injury as players stood in stunned silence.

The Thunder star was taken off the floor on a stretcher. He gave the crowd two thumbs up as he was wheeled off. The fans inside Paycom Center responded with a standing ovation.

Clippers guard Kris Dunn was assessed a flagrant foul penalty 1 for his reckless closeout from behind. Williams left the contest with 8 points on 3/8 shooting as the Thunder held on for a 108-101 win.
