Through the first four games of the regular season, the pairing between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat has not worked out.
Miami acquired Antetokounmpo in the offseason in hopes that he and Bam Adebayo would make for an excellent duo and help Miami compete atop the Eastern Conference. That hasn't quite panned out, and the time to begin worrying may be rapidly approaching.
Miami was knocked off 113-109 by the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, dropping its record to 0-4 on the season. It is the first time since the 2007-08 season that the Heat have started a season winless through four games.
To make matters worse, the loss came despite a triple-double from Antetokounmpo. He scored 29 points, collected 14 rebounds and dished out 11 assists.
It was the kind of effort from Antetokounmpo that would've seemed to lead Miami to its first win since acquiring the superstar. Instead, it was a fourth loss in as many games this season.

A turnaround for the Heat will start with better performances from the aforementioned Adebayo. He has struggled mightily this season, failing to reach 10 points twice in four games and shooting just 42.9% from the field.
The duo of Adebayo and Antetokounmpo were expected to carry Miami at certain times during the season, something that Antetokounmpo has tried to do, but Adebayo has failed to match the production.
Klay Thompson is another player that will need to up his production, as he was brought in to be the sharpshooter that opened up the floor for the backcourt duo. He's reached double digits just twice and is shooting 34.6% from three-point range.
Miami still has 78 games remaining, so there is plenty of time to figure things out. However, the upcoming schedule for the Heat will be challenging and panic could possibly begin to set in if things don't turn around in a hurry.
