The Las Vegas Raiders suffering a fourth-straight loss to fall to 3-4 on Sunday sparked new chatter about whether or not they could sell star pass pass-rusher Maxx Crosby to the highest bidder ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
Back in March, the Raiders were willing to accept two first-round draft picks from the Baltimore Ravens for Crosby before the Ravens backed out of completing that trade due to concerns related to the meniscus repair he needed following the 2025 season. During a Monday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter suggested it's more likely than not that Crosby will stay put this fall.
"[Crosby] means so much to [the Raiders]," Schefter explained. "He was the one that was forcing the issue in the offseason. He was the one that wanted to be traded. Initially, the Raiders balked, and then they [were offered two first-round picks]. I just don't think they're getting that back now."
Over the Raiders' first seven games of the campaign, Crosby tallied a pair of sacks. Teams such as the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers have been linked with pass-rushers such as Crosby since the summer, but it's unclear what those clubs would be willing to give up for such a player over the next couple of weeks.
Additionally, Crosby has repeatedly insisted throughout 2026 that he wants to stay with what's been the only NFL home of his career since he entered the league via the 2019 draft. Meanwhile, Schefter noted that keeping Crosby through the trade deadline may make the most sense for a Raiders team that is still in the hunt for a postseason berth despite its recent run of form.
Las Vegas next plays at the lowly New York Jets (2-5) on Nov. 1. On paper, that's a winnable game for the Raiders regardless of whether they start veteran Kirk Cousins or rookie Fernando Mendoza at quarterback.
"You don't want to sell off the heart and soul of your team, the face of your franchise. You don't want to do that," Schefter added about the Crosby trade rumors. "And I don't know that anybody would give up enough to make it happen. ...The trade talks surrounding Maxx Crosby, to me, have lost a little bit of steam."
Perhaps those talks will heat up if the Raiders fall to 3-5 on the first Sunday of November.
