Chandler Simpson did his best crash test dummy impression during Game 3 of the World Series.
The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Simpson delivered the catch of the postseason against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. During the second inning at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., Milwaukee had a runner on first base with one out as Sal Frelick was batting.
Frelick sliced a ball the other way that ended up hooking towards the left field foul pole. Simpson, in a full sprint, tracked down the line drive and made a leaping catch before crashing hard into the wall.
Even more impressively was that a clearly-dazed Simpson got up and managed to fire the ball into the cutoff man. That ensured that the runner at first, Milwaukee’s Garrett Mitchell, had to stay put.
Here is the video of the fantastic sequence.

Tampa Bay managed to get out of the inning unscathed as Mitchell was caught stealing four pitches later to retire the side. Meanwhile, Simpson is known as one of the fastest players in baseball (even leading the AL this season with 46 stolen bases), and he used every last bit of his speed and his athleticism to come down with that catch.
