Brewers can taste first World Series title after Game 3 rout vs. Rays

The title wait is nearly over, Milwaukee.

A World Series is about to be tapped.

The Milwaukee Brewers appear destined to capture their first World Series crown after a 10-1 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Red-hot Brewers keep making MLB postseason history

Milwaukee can bust out the beers and bubbly Tuesday in Tampa by polishing off the Rays in Game 4.

No team has ever won a World Series trailing 0-3.

Of the 43 previous major league teams to fall behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series, only the 2004 Boston Red Sox rallied to win four straight when they beat the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

The Brewers continued their postseason domination by winning their 10th straight game. Milwaukee last lost on Oct. 6 to the San Diego Padres in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.

Milwaukee's only other World Series appearance was in 1982 when the Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

With a victory Tuesday, the Brewers would join the 2025 Chicago White Sox and the 1999 New York Yankees as the only teams in MLB history to finish 11-1 in the postseason.

Robert Gasser mowed down the Rays with six shutout innings to get the win.

Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff has special moment in Game 3

Milwaukee's Brandon Woodruff, the team's ace who hadn't pitched since July 4, closed out Monday's game in which the Brewers outhit the Rays 16-3.

Per MLB.com, Griffin Jax will likely start Game 4 for Tampa Bay while Milwaukee may turn to its bullpen from the first pitch.
