Colts' Carlie Irsay-Gordon 'doesn’t want to trade' Jonathan Taylor after sending Quenton Nelson to Seahawks

Shortly after Indianapolis Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon fired former general manager Chris Ballard following the club's Week 6 loss to the previously winless Tennessee Titans, insiders linked Indianapolis star running back Jonathan Taylor with multiple clubs.

The Colts then seemingly kicked off an expected fire sale on Tuesday when they agreed to trade eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.

After news of the Nelson trade broke, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" and spoke about Taylor's future.

Adam Schefter doesn't "think" Colts will trade Jonathan Taylor?

"My understanding is that the owner doesn’t wanna trade Jonathan Taylor," Schefter said about the Colts. "We have two weeks from now until the [Nov. 10 trade deadline]. I’m sure they don’t want to trade Jonathan Taylor. And if I had to guess today, I would say I don’t think they will trade Jonathan Taylor."

Taylor signed a contract extension this past summer that could allow a club to retain his rights through 2028. The Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals are among the teams that could reportedly look to land an RB1 before Nov. 10.

Are Colts looking to spark a bidding war for Jonathan Taylor?

A previous report said that it may cost a club at least a "Day 2" draft pick to acquire Taylor this fall. Meanwhile, Schefter didn't seem fully convinced that the Colts have slammed the door shut on possibly trading Taylor.

"I think there are going to be teams that are interested out there that will try to have conversations, make offers," Schefter continued. "And if the Colts don’t change their stance, they won’t trade Jonathan Taylor. Again, I think the owner doesn’t want to trade him, for the record, right now."

Interestingly, Schefter also added that the Colts may simply be trying "to drive up" the price for Taylor's services. In short, Irsay-Gordon may need to receive a so-called "'Godfather' offer" to trade Taylor.
