It’s been a rough season for the Maryland Terrapins football program, and they are doing anything they can to get fans to stick around until the end of games.
Maryland is releasing a unique promotion. Students who attend this weekend’s game against Illinois and stay until the fourth quarter will be put into a free tuition raffle for the spring 2027 semester.
Maryland is offering a free tuition raffle for the spring 2027 semester during Saturday’s football game against Illinois — for fans who stay until the fourth quarter. A new way to try and convince students to remain at SECU Stadium. https://t.co/Ycj4Rhm3uE

Maryland is coming off a bye, and the program just parted ways with head coach Mike Locksley after a 2-5 start to the season and five straight losses.
Maryland also hasn’t won a single Big Ten Conference game since Sept. 20, 2025, and that came at Wisconsin.
In order for students to be eligible, they will have to scan a QR code displayed on the video board. Maryland isn’t stopping there, either. Since it is Halloween, they are giving out a free Halloween-themed T-shirt to the first 3,000 students.
Maryland currently ranks 15th out of 18 Big Ten teams for average home game attendance this season, according to Ira Gorawara of The New York Times.
On top of that, the Terrapins’ two wins came against Hampton and UConn.
We will see if this promotion works, and fans might want to take advantage of the offer, even if the product on the field isn’t worth staying for.
