The Milwaukee Brewers' World Series Game 4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays kept them from matching the two most dominant runs of the wild-card era. Milwaukee entered Game 4 with 10 wins and one loss in the 2026 postseason. The 1999 New York Yankees and 2005 Chicago White Sox are the only teams with 11-1 postseason records during the wild card era.
Tampa Bay won Game 4 4-3 in 12 innings. Milwaukee entered Game 4 with nine consecutive wins. Milwaukee beat the San Diego Padres in the first two games of the National League Division Series before losing Game 3. San Diego won Game 3 before Milwaukee ended the best-of-five series in Game 4.
Milwaukee swept the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in four games in the NL Championship Series. The Brewers' four-game sweep reversed a four-game sweep by the Dodgers over Milwaukee in the 2025 NLCS.
The 1999 Yankees won their first five postseason games before losing Game 3 of the American League Championship Series 13-1 to the Boston Red Sox. New York swept the Texas Rangers in the AL Division Series. After beating Boston in five games in the ALCS, the Yankees swept Atlanta in the World Series.
The 2005 Chicago White Sox and 1999 New York Yankees remain the only teams in MLB to go 11-1 in the postseason.

The 2005 Chicago White Sox swept the defending World Series champion Red Sox in the ALDS in three games. After the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim won Game 1 of the ALCS, the White Sox won the next four to win the series in five games and swept the Houston Astros in the World Series.
The 2005 White Sox had four consecutive complete games against the Angels in the final four games to win their first pennant since 1959. We will almost certainly never see another team with four consecutive complete games. With the Brewers' loss on Tuesday, we might never see another team in a position to go 11-1 in the postseason.
