Shortly after it was learned that star Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 18, a report revealed he was expected to miss 6-10 weeks of action.
It sounds like Adams won't need a full 10 weeks of recovery before he's back in the Rams' lineup.
Per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday that Adams' return will probably be "closer to the shorter term" of the previously mentioned timeline.
"He tells me, which I believe, [that] he’s Wolverine," McVay said about Adams while referencing the Marvel Universe character. "He’ll heal quick and be ready to go. He’s in good spirits. [He] sent me a picture the other day [of him] being able to walk already. He’s doing really well, and I think, based on how everything went, on the shorter end is what is projected."
Adams didn't play in the Rams' 35-21 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 25. Nevertheless, ESPN stats show that he ranks third on the Rams with 30 receptions, second with 49 targets, second with 480 receiving yards and first with four touchdown grabs.
Adams recently had successful surgery on his left hamstring.
"Everything’s good," McVay said about that procedure. "It went really well. He’s feeling good in the process of recovering and doing really well."
Adams is on track to remain sidelined for games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and Cardinals. The Rams will then enter their bye week before they begin preparing for their Nov. 25 home game against the Green Bay Packers.
As of the final Thursday of October, it was far too early for any outsider to guess whether or not Adams could be available for the Thanksgiving Eve matchup versus Green Bay. However, it sounds like there is at least a chance that he could be in the lineup that evening.
