Trouble is already brewing in The Grand Canyon State.

Phoenix Suns players have already grown frustrated over the team’s lack of a true point guard, Chris Haynes of NBA TV reported on Thursday. Haynes notes that the Suns players would like a legitimate floor general in order to help better organize their offense.

This report comes with Phoenix having gotten off to a 1-2 start to the year. That included a horrific 41-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener and an 11-point loss to the shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Devin Booker, Jalen Green, and Dillon Brooks are the current starting perimeter trio for the Suns. But none of those players are true point guards, and all generally lack efficiency and discipline with the ball.

Under second-year head coach Jordan Ott, the Suns sacrificed some guard depth by trading away Grayson Allen as part of their offseason move for forward Miles Bridges. Collin Gillespie has been somewhat successful for Phoenix in a sixth-man role, but the point guard options for the Suns are very slim beyond that.

This does not appear to be a new issue for Phoenix though. The Suns notably failed with their Booker-Bradley Beal-Kevin Durant trio featuring no true point guard, and Booker himself made some concerning comments about the current state of the team a few days ago.
