PITTSBURGH — Beating the Cleveland Browns means more than just a big win over a rival for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It means more than owning sole possession of the top of the AFC North.
It means revenge, both for the earlier-season loss but also for comments that came out of the Browns' locker room following their 27-24 win on Oct. 1.
So after Sunday's 27-6 victory over Cleveland, Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker called out the Browns defensive end. Brisker threw Verse's own words back at him, especially based on what happened on the Acrisure Stadium field in the most recent result from the rivalry.
"He should have kept his mouth shut. All that talk, and then to come out with 0 tackles? You didn't stand on business. He gotta look at himself in the mirror and get better," said Brisker when asked to discuss Verse postgame.
And to Brisker's point, not only did the Steelers outplay the Browns in every facet of the game, most notably defensively, but he put up a better individual performance than Verse.

Brisker recorded seven total tackles, with four credited as solo. Conversely, Verse, who Cleveland acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in the Myles Garrett trade, notched only one tackle, and it was assisted, throughout the day.
Verse also only made one tackle the week prior in the Browns' 27-24 win in Tennessee against the Titans.
In contrast to Brisker feeling comfortable letting his true opinion out, Cam Heyward, Pittsburgh's defensive captain, decided to keep it about business and downplay the significance of shutting an opposing player up.
“We weren’t motivated by that. We were motivated because we wanted to get this damn win before the bye. There’s bigger fish to fry,” said Heyward postgame, also saying they let their pads do the talking.
But beyond smack talk, the win canceled out Cleveland's previous tie-breaker edge and propelled Pittsburgh, now 6-2, to currently own the division lead.
So as the Steelers head towards a much-needed bye week, they can sleep soundly at night knowing they put together their most complete team effort and did so by avenging a previous loss.
