Not many teams have been playing better football over the past several weeks than the South Carolina Gamecocks.
After a disappointing 2-3 start to the season, the Gamecocks have rattled off three straight impressive wins to get to 5-3 and earn a No. 23 ranking in the AP Top 25.
The catalyst behind the winning streak has undoubtedly been quarterback LaNorris Sellers, and he is beginning to creep up on South Carolina football history.
With 68 career touchdowns, Sellers is just six total touchdowns away from setting the all-time school record and is just 848 yards shy of breaking the school record for career yards.
Additionally, Sellers needs nine total touchdowns over the final 4-5 games to set the single-season touchdown record at South Carolina and 12 more passing touchdowns this season to break the all-time single-season record in that department.
At one point during the 2025 season, it was unclear if Sellers would ever reach his full potential. Fast forward one season later, and he's begun to turn in one of the greatest careers of any quarterback in program history.
A few LaNorris Sellers notes on a Monday:

- Sellers is five total TDs away from tying Connor Shaw for the career SC record.
- He's 847 total yards from Todd Ellis' career record.
- Sellers needs 8 total TDs over the final 5(+?) games to tie the single-season SC record
(1/ )
LaNorris Sellers has 2.452 total yards this year. School record is 3,502 (Dylan Thompson, 2014).

Sellers needs to average 263 yards per game to break that record. 8 TDs from the single-season record (Shaw, 2013; Thompson, 2014). All those records were set in 13-game seasons.
The recent stretch from Sellers has made South Carolina one of the most dangerous teams in the country. It's fairly similar to the 2024 season when the Gamecocks rattled off six straight wins to finish the season 9-4 and just narrowly missed the College Football Playoff.
That same scenario could play out this season if Sellers continues to play like one of the top quarterbacks in the country. If the Gamecocks can continue to play well and win games, they'll be right in the thick of the CFP discussion on Selection Sunday.
