Florida State's Duce Robinson to miss rest of season with torn ACL

It's never good when you lose your head coach midseason, even if it's best for the program in the long run.

That's the tightrope the players of the Florida State Seminoles are walking this week. Their former head coach and the guy they all committed to, Mike Norvell, was fired midway through a 3-5 season after a three-game losing skid.

The Seminoles are moving forward with Rick Stockstill as the interim head coach. At first glance, it's a bit out of place to see a coach promoted from director of offensive scouting to head coach at a Power Four program.

Keep in mind, Stockstill spent 18 seasons as head coach at Middle Tennessee, so he's more than qualified for this interim job.

Things aren't going to get any easier this season for FSU, though, because in the same week the 'Noles fired their head coach, they lost their top offensive weapon.

Wideout Duce Robinson reportedly will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL. Robinson suffered the injury in Florida State's 36-24 loss to Clemson.

Florida State's offense will suffer without Duce Robinson

Florida State is averaging 30.6 points per game this season, which ranks 10th amongst all ACC offenses. The issue here for FSU is that its passing attack, which averages only 248.6 yards per game (ranked 11th in the ACC), is going to suffer significantly without Robinson.

He's been quarterback Ashton Daniels' favorite target, and he ends the season with 24 catches for 438 yards and four touchdowns in eight games.

Robinson was in his second season with the Seminoles and fourth in college football after spending his first two years with the USC Trojans.

He may enter the 2027 NFL Draft, even with the injury, but there's also a chance he comes back to Florida State for the 2027 season.
