Report: Bulls are already looking to trade 1 All-Star

Dec. 15 apparently cannot get here quickly enough for the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls are looking to field offers for guard Norman Powell ahead of the NBA trade deadline, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported Tuesday. The move comes with Chicago off to a disastrous 1-6 start to the year.

Powell, a 2026 NBA All-Star with the Miami Heat, just signed with the Bulls over the offseason. He got a two-year, $44.1 million contract from Chicago (with a team option in the second year).

With that team option, Powell can effectively be treated as an expiring contract. That would make him far easier to move ahead of the Feb. 11 trade deadline (though Powell is not eligible to be traded by the Bulls until Dec. 15 as a new signee).

Powell has averaged a respectable 20.3 points per game over his first seven appearances for Chicago. But at 33 years old, he may quickly stop making sense for the young Bulls, especially if they continue to bottom out.

Interestingly enough, Chicago was recently linked to a (slightly) younger All-Star trade target. Now it looks like another All-Star in Powell could help grease the wheels if the Bulls decide to go in that direction.
