The NBA has never seen a player like San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama has gotten off to an excellent start this season, but he hadn't yet had a monster performance. That all changed Wednesday night, though, as Wembanyama delivered one of the greatest performances in NBA history.
San Antonio's 112-111 win Wednesday over the Dallas Mavericks was highlighted by a historic performance from Wembanyama.
At halftime, Wembanyama had posted 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. By the time the game was finished, he'd posted a historic final stat line of 52 points, 24 rebounds and eight blocks.
The 50/20/5 night made Wembanyama just the second player in NBA history to accomplish the feat, joining Bob McAdoo who did so in 1974. Wembanyama finished just one rebound shy of posting the first 50/25/5 game in NBA history and the first 50/25 game since Chris Webber did so in 2001.
It was a generational and historic performance that could very well not be replicated for decades to come.

Wembanyama's performance on Wednesday was exactly what NBA fans envisioned when he was first introduced as a draft prospect.
He has an extremely rare skillset of height and athleticism that make him unguardable on his best nights. Wednesday was certainly one of those nights, and it showcased the potential that Wembanyama has to take over and dominate when he is on his game.
Wembanyama consistently being able to perform even close to the way he did on Wednesday will have San Antonio back atop the Western Conference and positioned well for its second straight trip to the NBA Finals.
