Ravens complete trade with Cardinals for Jacoby Brissett after blowout loss to Jaguars

It was learned before the Baltimore Ravens suffered a 33-10 blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars that dropped last-place Baltimore to 4-5 on Thursday night that the Ravens planned to acquire journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals.

What wasn't known was what the Ravens would be sending the Cardinals. That changed on Friday morning.

What Ravens gave up to upgrade their quarterback situation

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Ravens are acquiring Brissett and a 2027 fifth-round draft pick for a fourth-round pick in 2027 and a seventh-rounder in 2028.

Brissett became available after he was benched in favor of backup Gardner Minshew II during Arizona's game at the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 1. Minshew helped the Cardinals rally to earn a 33-30 overtime win over the Cowboys, and Arizona subsequently relegated Brissett to QB3 duties.

That said, Brissett immediately becomes the best healthy quarterback on the Ravens. Baltimore starter Lamar Jackson may not play again this season due to an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand he suffered in the loss to the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 1. That same afternoon, Ravens QB2 Tyler Huntley went down with a season-ending toe injury.

Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who began the Buffalo game as Baltimore's emergency third-choice option, started for the Ravens against the Jaguars. He completed 10-of-18 passes for 60 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in wet and rainy conditions.

What getting Jacoby Brissett may mean for Ravens' short-term future

Ravens running back Derrick Henry has been the subject of numerous rumors related to the trade deadline, which arrives at 4:00 p.m. ET this coming Tuesday. However, he suggested after the loss on Thursday that he doesn't want to go anywhere before Brissett starts for the Ravens against the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 16.

The 0-7 Chargers host the 2-5 Houston Texans this Sunday.

Brissett isn't seen as a potential full-time replacement for Jackson, who reportedly wants to stay with the Ravens "for a very long time." That said, it seems like the Ravens may not make any major move ahead of the trade deadline and will instead hope that Brissett steadies the figurative ship.
