Dickies Arena Lights Up with Bracket 2

Night No. 2 of the second bracket was filled with good runs and wrecks almost in proportion. The bareback riding had some breathtaking moments with a hang-up, and the bull riding featured bulls 7, cowboys 1.

The bull riding proved to be tough on the cowboys both nights. In round one, Maverick Smith from Mountain Grove, Mo., went 8 seconds on Rafter G Rodeo's Dragon's Breath for 87 points. Smith is currently ranked 12th in the world standings for 2024, so the additional $2,167 for his effort was well received. 

Canadian bull rider Coy Robbins picked up second in the first round aboard Sky High from Rafter G Rodeo when he scored 86 points. Jack Gilmore from Ironton, Mo., was the only other bull rider to complete the required 8 seconds. He stayed on top of Freddy Fender for 79.5 points.

Moving on to the Monday night performance to complete bracket two, the bulls decided it was their night to shine. Seven of the eight bull riders came down well short of the buzzer. Rafter G's Golden Eye strutted his stuff after he bucked Tanner Schmidt off. You could see the pride in his eyes as he cleared the arena of every person on foot. The beautiful big-horned bull flexed his muscles and smirked as cowboys, judges, and clowns all scaled the fence for safety.

Stephenville, Texas, cowboy Taylor Toves rode Thor to be the only cowboy to cover tonight and earn $5,000 for his eight seconds worth of work. His ride guaranteed an advancement to the semifinals.
