With the 2023 Barrel Futurities of America World Finals concluded, horses and trainers are back home fine tuning and gearing up for the next big futurity.

That futurity is right around the corner Dec. 5-10 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds and Jim Norrick Arena.

The OKC Futurity has a $55,000 added and $5,000 amateur bonus for horses five years old and younger. The rookie futurity has $37,500 and $2,500 amateur bonus for horses four years old and younger. Along with many other classes available including derby, youth and sweepstakes.

Totaling $167,000 added to this exciting barrel racing event.

Not only will the futurity be going on but also a last chance American Contender tournament. This is the absolute last chance to qualify for the central region semi-finals to get ever closer to a spot at the prestigious American Rodeo.

Also the Hooey Jr. Patriot will be having a qualification for the youngsters at the OKC Futurity. This is a huge opportunity for athletes aged 19 years old and younger to earn a spot at the world's richest youth rodeo, Hooey Jr Patriot. The main event paid out over $1.3 million in 2022.

With the futurity competition being fierce as ever this year, it will be interesting to watch this one unfold especially with two of the top futurity trainers states away.

Brittany Tonozzi and Kassie Mowry both qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. This $11,501,505 event is going on at the Thomas and Mack Arena Dec. 7-16. With the NFR festivities, including the back number ceremony, it's more than likely these two barrel racers will not be present at the futurity.
