"There's a bull loose!  Get to higher ground!" could be heard being yelled and over the loud speaker at the rodeo in Sisters, Oregon on Saturday, June 8.

With just one bull rider left to go in the evening, fans were enjoying singing along to a song when the bull that was in the arena had other plans.  Without any notice, he trotted over to the fence and launched himself right over.

Right over into the spectator area, that is.

Immediately the announcer started to warn people to get to higher ground and that there was a loose bull.  The pickup men and arena staff went into high gear to get the animal contained.

Before the pickup men could get to him, the bull raced through a concession area and injured three people.

Within a very short time, the rodeo staff had the bull contained and put back in a pen, but not before people experienced mayhem.  The true heroes of the night were the pickup men who kept many safe because of their quick response and talent to be able to capture such a beast.

The Sisters Rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and is one of the biggest rodeos in the area.  The was quick to issue a statement regarding the situation.

On Saturday June 8, an alarming incident at the PRCA sanctioned Sisters Rodeo in Oregon reminded us that while rodeo is a highly-entertaining sport, on very rare occasions it can also pose some risk.

At the end of the evening's bull riding event, a bull jumped a fence and ran through the rodeo grounds before being secured by our rodeo pickup men and arena staff. Several spectators were injured and received medical treatment.

PRCA sends our thoughts and well wishes to those who were injured or otherwise impacted by this frightening and very rare incident. We are grateful for the rapid, professional response of our arena pickup men, rodeo staff, and local first responders, who were able to prevent the situation from being worse.

PRCA selects only the best pickup men. They are the most highly trained best horsemen anyone can find, and we are grateful that their training helped to prevent further injuries or loss of life.

The Sisters Rodeo also issued a statement that mirrored that of the PRCA.

Watch as the bull jumps the fence and goes on his rampage.
