As the saying goes, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.” Nothing sums up "Yellowstone" better.
From land development issues, loyalty challenges, and company takeovers to lovers' quarrels and family problems, the plot of the major hit television series is riddled with drama. Off the screen, it seems the major players have about the same number of trials and tragedies in real life.
A major blow was issued when lead actor Kevin Costner’s divorce and exit was announced. If that wasn’t enough, the SAG-AFTRA strike put a hold on the filming and release of the fifth and final season.
The latest incident involves another of the series' biggest talents, Cole Hauser, and "Yellowstone" creator, Taylor Sheridan.
Hauser has recently announced the launch of a coffee company – Free Rein Coffee. Coincidently, Bosque Ranch – a property owned by Sheridan – recently partnered with Community Coffee to brand its own flavors of coffee called Bosque Ranch Craft Coffee.
Shortly after the launch of Hauser’s product, Bosque Ranch filed suit alleging trademark infringement and citing unfair competition and false advertising.
According to Country Rebel and San Angelo Live, the suit claims that Free Rein uses “a brand mark strikingly similar to Bosque Ranch’s registered trademark, potentially misleading consumers.”
Interestingly, Costner is also going into the coffee business with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to create Horizon Blend.
The cast and crew are scheduled to return to the set of "Yellowstone" in the spring of 2024 to complete the final episodes of the series.
To date, there is no news on whether the future of the series or Hauser’s character will be affected by the pending lawsuit.
