After a quarter century of unforgettable summers, sessions, and community building, Woodward West has announced it will officially close its doors. The Tehachapi, California location has been a part of skateboarding (and countless other action sports) since it first opened in 2000, and if you were ever lucky enough to spend a week or two there there, this news will probably hit hard.

For many, Woodward West wasn’t just a camp—it was a home away from home, one that provided generations of skaters the chance to progress, make lifelong friends, and even meet some of their favorite pros. It was paradise! And we'll miss it sorely.

"This was a tough decision, but one made to ensure the long-term success of Woodward as a whole," Woodward West mentioned on a recent Instagram post. "Our original Woodward camp location in Pennsylvania will remain open, and we look forward to welcoming our Woodward West campers to continue their Woodward journey there. Thank you for trusting us for cheering on your kids and friends, and for making Woodward West a home. Here's to 25 years of unforgettable tricks, friendships and memories."

While I never got to attend the camp as a kid, I was lucky enough to spend a week there as a grown-up-kid a few years back during a TWS trip. Better late than never! And honestly, it was one of the best weeks ever. We ate lunch in the cafeteria with the campers, skated all day and night, and got to experience a little taste of camp life. It ruled, to say the least.

Tony Hawk, Grant Brittain and Jason Ellis spent the day up there last year skating the Animal Chin ramp replica, and it was one of the first things that came to mind when I heard the news. Check a little edit from the day below. The Chin ramp was just one of the many epic sections this place had to offer.

The closure is bittersweet. While the Woodward name will continue at its other locations, losing West in October will certainly leave a void. 25 years is no small feat. And although the doors might be closing, the memories will last forever. Thanks for 25 years of stoke!
