Check this out: Vertical skateboarding pioneer Eddie "El Gato" Elguera has this new documentary passion project highlighting the "Golden Era" of skateboarding, and you can donate to help bring it to fruition! Peep the trailer then read on for more info:

"The Golden Era of Skateboarding has grown from a one-episode Documentary to a four-part Docuseries that brings awareness and energy to a period of skateboarding that has yet to be captured and chronicled in the sport's history.

The generation of the Golden Era revolutionized the sport of skateboarding, leaving an indelible mark that continues to influence competitive vertical skateboarding to this day. Their pioneering efforts have not only shaped the sport but also brought skateboarding to a global stage, as evidenced by its inclusion in the Olympics.

This Docuseries will profile the first vertical bowl contest series in skateboarding.

Hester Series #1 in 1978

Hester Series #2 in 1979

Gold Cup Series 1980.

It will include archival footage never seen before of history being made, updates on skaters, interviews, and event footage from the El Gato Classic Legends Weekend Events, seeing these legends gathering after 40 years and more.

Directed by Alfredo M. R. Vicente and Eddie "El Gato" Elguera

Produced by El Gato Classics and Stage Dive Films

Songs courtesy by The Faction (Dark Room/Lost in Space)"

No one summed up this series' importance better than skateboarding's patron saint Miki Vuckovich in his IG post:

"THIS IS YOUR HISTORY - Hit the link in my Bio and cut to the chase. Or read on. Friday night I entered the auditorium at @vansskate HQ to see @dawnaelguera and @eddieelguera hosting a gathering of the icons of 1970s skateboarding. @thetonyalva1957 @salba69 @mickealba2021 @dmartinez1904 @csmodel28 @girlisnota4letterword @henryhester @curtkimbel1 and many others were there to see the screening of Episode 1 of Eddie’s passion project, @goldeneraofskateboarding, a documentary series chronicling the critical period of skateboarding’s history when these pioneers transformed a slalom/freestyle-based activity into the aggressive pool-riding culture we recognize as the birth of the now—the hard-charging lifestyle that remains at the core of skateboarding’s identity today. Just as skateboarding was dying and the skateparks were closing, this generation continued to push the boundaries and present a whole new, more dynamic version of skateboarding just when the public stopped paying attention. But some of us were still watching, including @stevecaballero @christianhosoi @tonyhawk @lancemountain and others who would usher in a new era and captivate the public once again. But that wouldn’t have happened if the pioneers and the events featured in “Golden Era” didn’t carry skateboarding through the Dark Ages of the late 70s/early 80s and keep the flame burning. The very inferno we now see all over Instagram, YouTube, and in the Olympic Games. We have them to thank, and “Golden Era” shows us why. Other than contributions from @vansskate and a few individuals, Eddie’s been financing the project himself. So, let’s help Eddie make this happen. Let’s show our gratitude to him and his fellow pioneers by contributing even a few dollars, if you’re able to. Hit the link in my Bio and be a part of history by helping Eddie preserve such important history. Because these stories are OUR stories, the genesis of skateboarding as we know it today."
