If you grew up skateboarding in the late 90s/early 00s, then you have to remember the 'Scheme' by éS. The shoes look like tanks, if you ask me, but that also means they're tough and ready for any skateboarder to give them their worst. And as of now, the Scheme is officially back from the archives and here to stay.

Are the days of referring to shoes like this as "moon boots" officially coming to an end? Are skateboarders searching for big puffy skate shoes unironically? I'll let you answer that. Regardless, get a closer look and all the nitty-gritty details below.

"éS footwear was created in 1995 by skateboarders to advance and innovate footwear to keep up with the progression of the sport," éS mentioned in the caption. "The Scheme is one of the more advanced shoes that set the direction for all others to follow. This highly demanded reissue is a mirror of the original with its super comfortable Energy Foam midsole and overall iconic design. For those seeking style on and off the board - the Scheme is for you."

As I mentioned, I remember these perfectly, but honestly—were they always seriously this big? They're looking like borderline D3s. I mean, if you wear a size 10 or bigger, you better be skating a 10-inch board or something, ha! But really, jokes aside, people do skate these shoes, and they skate them well.

Without sounding too much like a broken record, I know the 'Scheme' made a small comeback back in 2018(ish?) but it was just one of those rare occasions, you know? A limited run to test the waters. The skateboarding world wasn't quite ready for them yet! But as I've been saying, 2025 just might be the year that we see a serious shift from the low profile, arguably stale vulcanized skate shoes.

Head to your local skate shop and try a pair on like it's 2002! Grab some oversized jeans and some drawstring shorts while you're at it. Don't ask me why, but I feel like putting on some Muska Beatz now. Ah, simpler times.
