This was one of those announcements that made me double-take and ask myself, “Wait, he wasn’t pro already?” And honestly, that reaction alone tells you everything you need to know about how deserved this is.
But let’s be real—even if you barely follow Filipe Mota’s skating, you know the dude is operating on a level of his own. He skates like a pro skater should skate in 2025, if you ask me, and he’s somehow constantly progressing.
All this to say: Filipe Mota is officially pro for Primitive Skateboards! Peep the surprise below:
From private parks across Southern California to the raw, gritty streets, and contest podiums worldwide, Filipe has been on an absolute tear these past few years. And lately, he’s really been coming into his own. Seems like he's more confident and powerful than ever.
Anytime he posts something, the internet breaks. His video parts have all been insane, and from here on out, they’ll all just be part of his hungry "am years" which is almost hard to wrap your head around. We can only imagine what he’s gonna hit us with as a pro powerhouse.
I remember when Filipe's part in Primitive's Am project, Daydream dropped. Even then, my mind was absolutely blown. Then they hit us with the raw clips shortly after—the battles, the heartbreaks, the close calls—and my admiration only grew.
Our favorite pros always find a way to make the hardest tricks look way too easy, but the truth is most of those clips you love came with a battle behind the scenes. It’s the skaters who are willing to go to war for their tricks that really separate themselves from the rest—and Filipe is absolutely one of those. He’s got heart, no question about it.
Go buy his debut board, watch some of his old parts and get ready for a lot more groundbreaking skateboarding from Mota in the near future. Congrats, dude! The Primitive squad remains one of the strongest in the game.
