22-Year-Old Snowboarder Dies in Terrain Park Accident at Australian Ski Resort

According to local news reports, a 22-year-old snowboarder has died at Perisher, a popular Australian ski resort.

TheSydney Morning Herald reported that the fatal accident happened at Perisher’s Front Valley Terrain Park on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The freestyle area with jumps “attracts and challenges professional athletes from all over the world due to its constantly evolving features,” according to Perisher’s website. It's home to the "biggest jumps and rails" at the ski resort.

Emergency services were called to Perisher on Tuesday, and the snowboarder received treatment from paramedics, but he died at the scene. According to the Herald, an NSW Ambulance spokesperson saidthe emergency response saw a helicopter and multiple ambulance crews.

Perisher’s vice president and general manager, Nathan Butterworth, said, “Perisher Ski Resort, Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest's family and friends.”

Purchased by Vail Resorts in 2015, Perisher is Australia’s largest ski resort. It features 44 lifts, 3,076 skiable acres, and multiple terrain parks, including the one in the Front Valley area.
