Alyeska Resort, AK, is having a day of free skiing next week for active and retired military as a way of thanking the Armed Forces.

"Our next Military Monday is coming right up! Join us this March 4th for a day of free skiing, riding, & discounted rentals."

"Alyeska Resort thanks the Armed Forces with full-day lift and tram tickets to all active duty and retired military, along with discounted rentals, & promotional room rates."

Over the last decade, Alyeska has introduced thousands of soldiers and their families to skiing in Alaska and made the Resort ski & snowboard experience available for no charge to active and retired members of the Armed Forces.

The other Military Mondays have occurred on January 8, February 5, March 4, and there is one more on April 1, 2024.

Today’s forecast in Girdwood is calling for calm winds, mostly cloudy skies, a chance of snow this morning, & a high temp near 20 degrees F.

Alyeska has received a bonkers amount of snow this season, already surpassing 500 inches. Right now, they have seen 565 inches fall at the top of GBX.

Their base depth is 119 at the top of the mountain, 97 inches at mid-mountain, and 42 inches at the base.

Officials at Alyeska have asked everyone to do their part in keeping this tradition alive by parking only in designated areas. "Let's keep our side streets & neighborhoods free of vehicles. Thank you!"
